Mr & Mrs Lewry -
In the Page & Overton
years to 1954 there were two
known landlords. The first was a Mr
& Mrs Lewry. It appeared that Mrs Lewry
ran the Ale house with a strict rod of
iron. If your face did not fit then you
were out. It was not surprising that the
business was failing to make profit.
When Mrs Lewry died, poor Mr Lewry tried
to run the pub on his own but due to his age,
he was unable to carry on. However Page
& Overton took pity and moved him into
the detached house described above. (See
that happening today!)
